BECAUSE I COULD NOT STOP FOR DEATH BY EMILY DICKINSON

CONTEXT: In this poem, the poetess gives us the details of how death reaches her and how she welcomes it. She says that she ignores all the tasks and is ready to go to eternal world where she is to live forever.
سیاق و سباق: اس نظم میں شاعرہ ہمیں کسطرح موت اس کے پاس پہنچتی ہے اور وہ کسطرح اسکو خوش آمدید کہتی ہے کی وضاحت دیتی ہے۔ وہ کہتی ہے کہ وہ سارے کام چھوڑ دیتی ہے اور ابدی دنیا میں جانے کیلئے تیار ہو جاتی ہے جہاں ا سے ہمیشہ کیلئے رہنا ہے ۔
EXPLANATION: The main theme of the poem is in fact “Death” which everyone is to taste sooner or later. It is a reality that cannot be denied. The poetess unlike all the other believes that death is not terrible and unkind. It brings with it the sense of peace and religious serenity. It is not cruel rather it is kind. In the given lines, she says that the angel of death comes to her and seats her in the carriage. She gives up all the tasks and they pass by the school where she finds the children playing, the fields of crops and the setting sun which marks the end of her earthly existence. At last, the carriage stops near a grave. The grave looks like a mound of clay raised from the earth. She is buried there. However, she feels that her stay there has been far less than a day. When she starts her journey, she guesses that the horses of the carriage are moving towards eternity. But, now she is living in a world where time cannot be measured by days and nights. The poetess looks quite happy and gay because she wants to experience life of the Next World because she believes: “Death is not seen as an end but as the beginning of immortality.”
