REFERENCE: These lines have been taken from “Patriot into Traitor” written by “Robert Browning.”
CONTEXT: In this poem, the poet depicts the contrast in the life of a political leader. He is honoured when he is in power but he is ready to be hanged when he is not in power only because of his political failures.
سیاق و سباق: اس نظم میں شاعر ایک سیاسی رہنما کی زندگی میں تضاد پیش کرتا ہے۔ جب وہ اقتدار میں ہوتا ہے تو اسکی عزت کی جاتی ہے لیکن جب وہ اقتدار میں نہیں ہوتا تو اپنی سیاسی ناکامیوں کی وجہ سے وہ پھانسی پر چڑھنے کیلئے تیار ہوتا ہے۔
EXPLANATION: This poem is a “Dramatic Monologue.”It is a soliloquy of the character who expresses his feelings and thinks that no spectator is watching him doing so. The purpose of writing this poem is to convey the idea: “The people worship the rising sun.” In the given lines, the hero is giving vent to his sad feeling. He remembers the time of honour and respect when he was in power. He says that in excitement and zeal, he was ready to do impossible things for the pleasure of his people. They could also perform herculean task for his pleasure but now he is totally dejected because he is in power no more. His friends have become his enemies. They are throwing stones at him. His forehead is bleeding. The people are waiting for him to be hanged, but the hero is not disappointed at this treatment because he believes that only God is just and He will do justice to him on the Day of Judgment. The situation of the hero depicted in the poem has great relevance to the political situation prevailing in the 3rd world countries. In these countries, the politicians and heroes are honoured but humiliated in the end.
تشریح: یہ نظم ایک ڈرامائی خود کلامی ہے۔ یہ یہ ایک کردار کی خود سے باتیں کرنا ہوتا ہے جو اپنے احساسات کا اظہار کرتا ہے اور خیال کرتا ہے کہ کوئی تماشائی اسے ایسا کرتے ہوئے نہیں دیکھ رہا۔ اس نظم کو لکھنے کا مقصد یہ خیال پہنچانا ہے۔ “لوگ چڑھتے سورج کی پوجا کرتے ہیں۔”دی گئی لائنوں میں ہیرو اپنے اداسی والے جذبے کا اظہار کر رہا ہے۔ وہ عزت کا وہ والا وقت یاد کرتا ہے جو وہ اقتدار میں تھا۔ وہ کہتا ہے کہ جوش میں اپنے لوگوں کو خوش کرنے کیلئے وہ ناممکن کام بھی کرنے کیلئے تیار تھا۔ وہ بھی اسکی خوشی کیلئے مشکل کام کرنے کیلئے تیار تھے لیکن اب وہ مکمل طور پر افسردہ ہے کیونکہ اب وہ مزید اقتدار میں نہیں ہے۔ اسکے دوست اسکے دشمن بن گئے ہیں۔ وہ اس پر پتھر پھینک رہے ہیں۔ اسکے ماتھے سے خون نکل رہا ہے۔ لوگ اسکی پھانسی کا انتظار کر رہے ہیں لیکن ہیرو اس سلوک پر مایوس نہیں ہوتا کیونکہ اسے یقین ہے کہ صرف اللہ ہی مصنف ہے اور وہ قیامت کے دن اسکے ساتھ انصاف کرے گا۔ نظم میں پیش کئے گئے ہیرو کی صورت حال تیسر دنیا کے ممالک میں پائی جانے والی سیاسی صورت حال سے بہت زیادہ مشابہت رکھتی ہے۔ ان ممالک میں سیاستدانوں اور ہیروز کی قدر کی جاتی ہے مگر آخر میں انہیں رسوا کیا جاتا ہے۔
