Answer: These expressions show the writer’s confusion and nervousness whenever he enters the bank. He acts like a stupid person. He fears everything in the bank.

Q.No.2: Why did the manager come to think that Leacock had an awful secret to reveal?    

Answer: The writer wished to see the manager in solitude. It was the writer’s wish that compelled the manager to think that the writer had an awful secret to reveal.

Answer: When the manager came to know that he wanted to deposit 56 dollars, his attitude changed at once. He called the accountant and asked him to open his account.

Answer: Having committed the mistake of writing 56 instead 6, the writer tried to look like a man with quick temper, who could easily be irritated by trifle.
