A hero is actually a man of great and exceptional (غیر معمولی)qualities. He bears immortal (لافانی) fame in the history because of his exemplary character (مثالی کردار) and unique (لازوال) and exceptional (غیر معمولی) talent. He may be a thinker, a poet, a philosopher, a scholar and a political leader. History is replete with (بھرے ہونا)such great men. One such great personality is Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He is my favourite poet as well as our national hero. He is called “The Poet of the East.”
On a historic day in the history of the sub-continent, he was born at Sialkot on November 9, 1877. He passed his F.A from Murray College Sialkot. Then, he joined Government College Lahore and passed his B.A and M.A there. Then, he went to Europe for higher studies in 1905. He got the degree of Bar-at-law from London and the degree of Ph.D in Philosophy from Germany.
After his return to India, he joined politics. It was he who first time offered ‘Two Nation Theory.’ He was greatly dejected (افسردہ) to see the Muslims in miserable condition (خستہ حالت). They were depressed (اداس), distressed (پریشان، بے چین) and crushed (کچلےہوئے). He used his poetry as a tool to awaken the Muslims from deep slumber. He infused a new spirit in the Muslims of the sub-continent through his inspiring verses. “A hero is somebody who is selfless and generous in spirit and deeply cares others.”His famous books are “Bang-i-Dara”, “Baal-i-Jabreel”, and “Zarb-i-Kaleem”, etc. He also wrote inspirational (متاثرکن) and motivational (متحرک کرنے والی) poetry for the children. He wrote poetry in Urdu as well as Persian.
His poetry contains Islamic outlook (نقطہ نظر)in message. He was a true lover of Allah, Islam, Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the Holy Quran. He believed: “The Holy Quran is the greatest book of Allah for the guidance of humanity.”
But, unfortunately (بدقسمتی سے), he could not live long to see the establishment (قیام) of Pakistan. He breathed his last on 21 April, 1938. He was buried near Badshahi Mosque in Lahore. He will be remembered and loved not only as a poet but also as the founder(بانی)of “Pakistan Ideology.” May Allah shower His blessings upon him!
